A Remedy as Old as the Hills
The use of clay for inflammation, wounds and skin problems is so ancient that it is literally part of human history. Prehistoric people not only used clay for pottery, but also for healing. The indigenous peoples of America and the ancient civilisations of the old continent also knew about the antiseptic powers of clay on the skin. Animals such as horses can be seen instinctively covering themselves with clay to heal insect bites and other wounds.

Manicouagan Clay
Today, in the Manicouagan peninsula on the St. Lawrence River, a precious marine mineral mud is extracted which, unlike other deposits, is free of any environmental pollutants. This exceptional mud, rich in minerals, trace elements and organic matter, stands out from other clays on the planet for its effectiveness. When compared to other known sources of clay, such as those from the Dead Sea or the Périgord, we can quickly see that it ticks all the boxes: controls sebum levels, soothes, exfoliates, effective in the treatment of psoriasis and eczema, cleanses, absorbs bad odours, reduces inflammation, detoxifies, regenerates, moisturises, revitalises, etc. It is truly an unsuspected treasure of our territory.

Extracted in an Ecologically Responsible Manner
The clay that it contains in phenomenal quantities is extracted using a method known as "without trace" which consists of putting back the thick layer of peat bog that protects it after harvesting. The company that operates the deposit, AEM Lab, is a model of environmental responsibility. For example, the company bears the seal of the Manicouagan-Uapishka World Biosphere Reserve granted by UNESCO. Another convincing demonstration of respect for the environment is the fact that the machinery used in the extraction of the mud is lubricated with vegetable grease instead of synthetic hydraulic oil.
